Melted Ham and Cheese Loaf

  1. Melt butter is a small saucepan, and stir in garlic.
  2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  3. Cut bread crosswise into 8 sections (seven cuts), not quite through to bottom crust.
  4. With a pastry brush, spread garlic butter on both sides of bread at each cut.
  5. Tuck 2 slices each of ham and cheese into every other cut in bread.
  6. Wrap loaf in aluminum foil; bake for 40 minutes, or until heated through.
  7. Open foil around loaf; turn oven to broil.
  8. Broil loaf for 3 to 5 minutes, until cheese bubbles.
  9. To serve, slice through unfilled cuts (serve while warm).
