Rustic Caramelized Onion Tart
- 4 slices bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces Rite Aid 2 For $7.00 thru 02/06
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1 ready-to-use refrigerated pie crust (1/2 of 400-g pkg.)
- 1 pkg. (250 g) Philadelphia Brick Cream Cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- Cook bacon in large skillet on medium-high heat 5 min or just until bacon is crisp, stirring occasionally.
- Remove bacon from skillet with slotted spoon, reserving drippings in skillet.
- Drain bacon on paper towels; set aside.
- Add onions to drippings; cook 15 to 20 min.
- or until onions are caramelized, stirring frequently.
- Heat oven to 400F.
- Unroll pie crust on baking sheet.
- Mix cream cheese and sour cream; spread onto crust.
- Spoon onion mixture and bacon onto centre of crust, leaving 2-inch border; top with Swiss cheese.
- Fold border over filling, leaving opening in centre and pleating crust as necessary to fit.
- Bake 20 to 25 min.
- or until crust is lightly browned.
- Cool slightly.
