Aunt Hazel'S Swedish Meat Balls
- 1 c. bread crumbs
- 1 c. milk
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1 Tbsp. minced onion
- 1/4 tsp. mace
- 1/8 tsp. allspice
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 6 Tbsp. flour
- 1 can consomme
- 1 c. Sauterne
- 1/2 c. canned milk
- 2 Tbsp. chopped parsley
- 3 Tbsp. bacon fat
- Soak bread crumbs in milk for 10 minutes.
- Add remaining ingredients; mix with wet hands and shape into small balls.
- Heat 3 tablespoons bacon fat and brown meat.
- Remove meat and add flour. Brown flour in remaining fat.
- Stir in consomme, Sauterne and milk. Cook until thickened.
- Salt and pepper to taste.
- Return meat to gravy.
- Add chopped parsley and simmer 20 minutes.
- Serves 6. Serve over pasta or rice.
