Ron'S Yeast Bread
- unbleached bread flour
- 3/4 c. Crisco shortening
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 3 tsp. butter
- 2 c. water (warm)
- Melt shortening (do not get too hot).
- Put 2 cups of warm water in a large bowl.
- Add sugar, salt and shortening.
- Stir to mix.
- Add yeast and mix well until yeast dissolves.
- Use a wooden spoon and add flour until mixture is elastic and pulls away from sides of bowl.
- Cover and let rise in warm, dry place until doubled.
- (Microwave works well.) Turn out on floured board and knead 2 to 3 minutes, working out air bubbles.
- Divide into 3 equal parts.
- Melt a teaspoon of butter in loaf pans (3).
- Turn dough in pans to coat with butter.
- Let rise again until doubled. Bake 20 minutes at 375u0b0.
- Makes 3 loaves.
