Pork Tsukune Patties with Lotus Root for Sports Day or Cherry Blossom Viewing

  1. Chop the green onion into thin rounds and the lotus root into 5 mm cubes.
  2. Mix these well with the ground pork, season with salt and pepper and shape into small bite-size patties.
  3. Heat some vegetable oil in a frying pan and cook both sides of the patties.
  4. Drizzle over some soy sauce and mirin from above, mix in and finish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
  5. Pack these tsukune patties together with some flower-shaped carrot slices boiled in salt to create a lovely colourful lunchbox.
