Small Golden Pretzels
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 2 - 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 c. milk, slightly warm
- 1 egg for brushing
- 1/4 c. butter
- 1 Tbsp. milk
- 1 egg
- 2 pkg. saffron
- In a large bowl dissolve yeast in warm milk.
- Melt butter and add to mixture.
- Add salt, egg and crumbled saffron, and 2 cups flour.
- Knead dough on floured surface for a couple of minutes until smooth.
- Add more flour as needed.
- Let dough rise in warm place for 30 minutes.
- Punch dough down and knead dough again on floured surface.
- Form into long roll, cut dough into 24 pieces. Roll each piece into a 10 inch string.
- Form pretzels and place on a baking sheet.
- Let rise 20 minutes.
- Beat egg and milk and brush pretzels.
- Bake at 425u0b0 - 450u0b0 for 8 minutes.
