Di's Nutty Chocolate Caramel Bars

  1. Chop 4 squares (half the chocolate) chocolate into small pieces, and set aside to add to mixture.
  2. Mix melted margarine with cookie crumbs.
  3. Press into foil lined 9" square pan.
  4. Cover with caramel topping.
  5. Set aside.
  6. Pour milk into bowl.
  7. Add pudding mix, and mix together.
  8. Fold in Cool Whip, chopped chocolate and chopped nuts.
  9. Pour pudding mixture over caramel.
  10. Freeze until firm, about 4 hours.
  11. Melt remaining chocolate with 3 tablespoons margarine in the microwave.
  12. WATCH CAREFULLY!
  13. (or you can melt it using a double boiler, if you prefer).
  14. Spread over frozen pudding mixture.
  15. The chocolate will harden immediately.
  16. Lift foil from pan.
  17. Cut into bars with a sharp knife.
