Key West Guava Bread Pudding

  1. Tear bread into pieces.
  2. Soak in water 5 to 10 minutes.
  3. Pour into a colander; drain.
  4. Squeeze most of water out.
  5. Place bread in large bowl, add eggs, milks, sugar and vanilla; beat well.
  6. Melt butter in 9 x 13-inch pan.
  7. Add to mixture, then combine well and add back to pan.
  8. Cut guava paste into crosswise strips.
  9. Lay atop mixture in rows, almost touching.
  10. Push guava paste below liquid level, then bake in preheated 350u0b0 oven 1 hour.
  11. Check center for doneness.
  12. It will fall, that's okay.
  13. Serve warm or cold.
