Well Done Pigs In The Blanket Recipe
- 1 med. sized cabbage
- 3 pound grnd chuck
- 1 lg. bottle Heinz ketchup
- 2 c. cooked rice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Core cabbage and steam till leaves are pliable and are easily separated.
- Set aside and cold.
- Cook and cold rice.
- Mix meat with rice; season with salt and pepper.
- Fill cabbage leaves with meat mix; roll and tuck in corners.
- Mix a little ketchup with sufficient water to cover the bottom of a roasting pan.
- Layer piggies in roasting pan; adding ketchup to each layer.
- Add in a little water to top layer; cover and bake in 250 degree oven for 2 1/2-3 hrs.
- Lower heat to 200 degrees; remove lid.
- Bake 45 min.
- Piggies should be well done with very little juice in pan.
- Remove to serving platter; sprinkle with grated cheese.
- Serve with fresh Italian bread.
- NOTE: A meal which can be made in advance.
