Cincinnati Chili
- 2 lb. hamburger (don't brown it first)
- 2 chopped onions
- 1 qt. water
- 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
- 1/2 tsp. allspice
- 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
- 4 Tbsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. cumin
- 1/2 tsp. red pepper
- 1/4 tsp. cloves
- 1/2 oz. unsweetened chocolate (that's right!)
- 2 Tbsp. vinegar
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 4 drops Tabasco sauce
- Combine the hamburger, onions and 1 quart water; simmer together for 30 minutes.
- Add the remaining ingredients.
- Simmer, uncovered, for 2 to 3 hours, until thickened.
- Refrigerate overnight.
