Sour Cream Chocolate Cake
- 2 c. flour
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 c. water
- 3/4 c. sour cream
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 1/4 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 eggs
- 4 oz. melted unsweetened chocolate, cooled
- Sour Cream Chocolate Frosting
- Heat oven to 350u0b0.
- Grease and flour oblong 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan or 2 (9-inch) or 3 (8-inch) round layer pans.
- Measure all ingredients, except frosting, into large mixing bowl.
- Mix 1/2 minute on low, scraping bowl constantly.
- Beat 3 minutes on high, scraping bowl occasionally.
- Pour into pans and bake in oblong pan 40 to 45 minutes and layers for 30 to 35 minutes or until top springs back when lightly touched.
- Cool and frost with Sour Cream Chocolate Frosting.
