Blonde Brownies

  1. In a large saucepan heat brown sugar and butter or margarine, stirring constantly till sugar dissolves.
  2. Remove pan from heat.
  3. Cool slightly.
  4. Add eggs, one at a time, and the vanilla.
  5. Beat slightly by hand just till combined.
  6. Stir in flour, baking powder, and baking soda.
  7. Spread batter in a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
  8. Sprinkle with chopped chocolate and hazelnuts or almonds.
  9. Bake in a preheated 350 degrees F oven for 35 minutes.
  10. Cut into bars while still warm; cool bars completely in pan.
