Spaghetti Sauce
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, sliced
- 6 to 8 cloves garlic, chopped
- 5 cans tomato sauce or 4 cans tomato sauce and 1 can whole tomatoes
- 1 Tbsp. Italian seasoning
- 1/2 to 1 tsp. oregano
- 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. whole leaf thyme
- 1 1/4 tsp. marjoram
- 1 tsp. sweet basil
- 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. sage
- 3 bay leaves
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- 2 Tbsp. oil (optional)
- 1 to 2 cans soft water
- 2 to 2 1/2 c. red wine
- 1/4 to 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1/8 to 1/4 lb. sausage (I use 1 lb. ground beef only)
- Place all in a large pot and bring to a boil.
- Cover and simmer slowly over low heat at least an hour.
- Remove lid and cook down to thickness desired.
