Savory Pot Roast
- 1 round bone chuck roast (about 3 1/2 lb.)
- 1 Tbsp. cooking oil
- 2 large onions, diced
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes and liquid
- 1 c. water, divided
- 2 Tbsp. prepared horseradish
- 1 tsp. browning sauce
- 1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
- Brown roast in oil in a Dutch oven.
- Remove meat and set aside.
- Saute onions and garlic in drippings until tender.
- Return roast to Dutch oven and add cut up tomatoes and remaining ingredients using 1/2 water.
- Cover and cook until meat is tender about 2 or 3 hours.
- Remove roast to serving platter, keeping it warm.
- Add flour and remaining water to pan juices.
- Cook for about 5 minutes until thick and bubbly.
- Slice roast and serve with gravy.
