Beef Bourguignon Recipe
- 1 Tbsp. Oil
- 500 gm Lean cubed beef, (1lb)
- 2 x Cloves garlic, crushed
- 15 gm Plain flour, (1/2oz)
- 300 ml Red Burgundy wine, (1/2 pint)
- 250 gm Shallots, or possibly button onions (8oz)
- 250 gm Smoked bacon, minced (8oz)
- 2 Tbsp. Freshly minced thyme
- 125 gm Smoked bacon, minced and grilled or possibly fried till crispy (4oz)
- 1 sprg fresh thyme

- Heat the oil and fry the steak for 8-10 min, stirring occasionally, till browned.
- 2.
- Add in the garlic and flour, mix well and cook for 1 minute.
- 3.
- Stir in the wine, bring to the boil then cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hrs.
- 4.
- Add in the shallots or possibly onions, bacon and thyme and cook for a further 1 hour.
- 5.
- Just before serving, sprinkle the bacon over the top and garnish with sprigs of fresh thyme.
- NOTES : A classic French dish perfect for entetaining.
