Nut Cake
- 2 3/4 c. sifted flour
- 2 3/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 c. butter or margarine (soft)
- 3/4 c. milk
- 3 eggs, whole
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. almond extract
- 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
- 1/2 c. chopped maraschino cherries
- Sift flour with baking powder,talt
- and sugar in large bowl of electric mixer.tdd
- shortening,
- milk,
- vanilla
- and almond extract.
- Beat on #3 speedtor
- 2 minutes.
- Stop mixer, scrape beaters.
- Add three eggs and
- extra
- yolk all at once to mixture. Beat two minutes
- longer.
- Scrape bowl while beating. Line well greased and lightly
- floured
- 10-inch
- tube
- pan with chopped nuts and cherries.
- Add batter.take
- in 375u0b0 oven for 50 minutes or until cake tester
- comes
- out
- clean.
- Unmold and cool.
- Yields about 12 large wedges.
