Nut Cake

• 2 3/4 c. sifted flour
• 2 3/4 tsp. baking powder
• 1 1/2 tsp. salt
• 1 3/4 c. sugar
• 1 c. butter or margarine (soft)
• 3/4 c. milk
• 3 eggs, whole
• 1 egg yolk
• 1 tsp. vanilla
• 1 tsp. almond extract
• 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
• 1/2 c. chopped maraschino cherries

1. Sift flour with baking powder,talt
2. and sugar in large bowl of electric mixer.tdd
3. shortening,
4. milk,
5. vanilla
6. and almond extract.
7. Beat on #3 speedtor
8. 2 minutes.
9. Stop mixer, scrape beaters.
10. Add three eggs and
11. extra
12. yolk all at once to mixture. Beat two minutes
13. longer.
14. Scrape bowl while beating. Line well greased and lightly
15. floured
16. 10-inch
17. tube
18. pan with chopped nuts and cherries.
19. Add batter.take
20. in 375u0b0 oven for 50 minutes or until cake tester
21. comes
22. out
23. clean.
24. Unmold and cool.
25. Yields about 12 large wedges.
