Spicy Peach Nut Bread
- 2 c. flour
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
- 2 tsp. softened margarine or butter
- 1 (16 oz.) can (2 c.) sliced peaches or apricot halves, drained (reserve syrup)
- 1/2 c. reserved syrup
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 1 c. raisins
- In a large bowl, blend all, except nuts and raisins, until moistened.
- Beat 2 minutes at medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally.
- Stir in nuts and raisins.
- Pour into generously greased loaf pan (9 x 5 x 3-inch). Bake at 350u0b0 for 60 to 70 minutes or until tests clean.
- Immediately remove from pan.
- Cool completely.
- If desired, drizzle with powdered sugar glaze.
- Store tightly wrapped in refrigerator.
