Olive Garden Marinara (Copycat)

  1. In large saucepan heat oil.
  2. Add garlic and over moderate heat cook about 5 minutes until lightly golden.
  3. Add tomato paste and stir for about a minute, then add canned tomatoes and juices.
  4. Stir in sugar and basil, season with salt and pepper then bring to a low boil.
  5. Allow to simmer over low heat while stirring occasionally until it reduces and thickens, about 30 minutes.
  6. Discard basil and garlic prior to serving.
