Chocolate Pumpkin Cake With Chocolate Glaze

  1. Cream the butter and sugar.
  2. Stir in the applesauce, eggs, 1/3 cup cream and pumpkin.
  3. In another bowl, combine the all the remaining dry ingredients.
  4. Stir into the pumpkin mixture just until combined.
  5. Bake in a greased 9x13 pan at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool.
  7. For the glaze, combine the butter, brown sugar, cream and cocoa in a heavy saucepan.
  8. Cook and stir over moderate heat until sugar is dissolved.
  9. Whisk in the powdered sugar until smooth; drizzle over cake immediately.
