Caramelized Apple And Cranberry Turnovers Recipe

  1. ADVANCE PREP: Saute/fry the first 4 ingredients in a medium saute/fry pan over medium heat till the fruit softens slightly.
  2. Stir in the spices and cornstarch/water mix, cold and reserve.
  3. Cut phyllo dough into 16 5-inch squares (you'll have some left over).
  4. Make 4 stacks of 4 squares each, coating each layer with nonstick cooking spray before placing another on top.
  5. Spoon 11/2 heaping Tbsp.
  6. of the apple mix in the center of each stack; fold each in half from corner to corner to create a triangle.
  7. Chill the turnovers for 30 min.
  8. BAKE: Preheat oven to 375F.
  9. Place turnovers on a cookie sheet coated with nonstick cooking spray, then spray tops of turnovers.
  10. Bake for 15 min.
  11. Let cold.
  12. Store in an airtight container.
  13. SAUCE: Combine all ingredients for Vanilla Yogurt Sauce in an airtight container.
  14. Chill till needed.
  15. TO SERVE: Place turnovers on serving plates and drizzle with Vanilla
  16. Yogurt Sauce.
  17. Optional: hot the turnovers in a toaster oven then drizzle with sauce and serve.
