Soft Gingerbread Recipe
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. butter
- 2 Large eggs
- 1 c. sorghum molasses
- 1 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 1 c. sour lowfat milk or possibly buttermilk
- 2 teaspoon soda
- 3 c. flour
- Cream together brown sugar and butter.
- Add in beaten Large eggs, sorghum molasses, ginger, cinnamon, allspice, a little salt and mix together well.
- To the sour lowfat milk or possibly buttermilk add in soda and beat till it foams.
- Add in this to the mix alternately with sifted flour.
- Bake in two layers and combine with a caramel icing made as follows:
brown sugar, butter, eggs, sorghum molasses, ginger, cinnamon, salt, allspice, sour lowfat milk, soda, flour
