Saucy Meatball Sandwich

  1. Cut a thin slice off the top of each roll and reserve.
  2. Hollow out roll bottoms, leaving 1/2-inch shells; reserve bread pieces. Tear tops and bread pieces into pea size pieces (3/4 cup soft bread crumbs).
  3. Stir together bread crumbs and egg.
  4. Add sausage; mix well.
  5. Shape mixture into 16 (1 1/2-inch) meatballs.
  6. Arrange meatballs in an 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking dish.
  7. Cover with vented clear plastic wrap.
  8. Microcook meatballs on High 5 1/2 to 7 1/2 minutes, or until juices run clear, turning meatballs over and rotating dish once or twice.
  9. Drain.
