Black Forest Kolaches
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1/3 c. sour cream
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 6 Tbsp. cocoa
- warm milk
- 1 stick melted butter
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 3 1/2 c. flour
- 1 can cherry pie filling
- Combine
- yeast,
- 1/2
- cup
- warm milk and 1/3 cup sugar. Stir until
- yeast
- dissolves.
- Add butter, 1/2 cup warm milk, sour cream,
- eggs,
- salt, cocoa and 2 cups flour.
- Stir well. Add rest of
- flour
- to make a soft dough.
- Cover and let rise for
- 30 minutes.
- Mix
- and
- let
- rise for another 30 minutes. Punch
- down and
- roll
- out
- on floured surface about 1/2 inch thick.
- Cut with round cookie cutter and place in 2 greased 9 x
- 11 x 2-inch baking pans.
- Spread with melted butter.
- Cover and
- let
- rest for 10 minutes.
- Make indention with thumb and fill
- with cream cheese filling and top with 1 teaspoon cherry pie
- filling.
- Cover and let rise until double in size (about 20 to
- 25
- minutes). Bake
- at 375u0b0 for 20 to 25 minutes, then cool, drizzle with cocoa icing.
