Spicy Java BBQ Sauce

  1. Cook bacon in large heavy saucepan on medium-high heat until crisp.
  2. Drain, reserving 1/4 cup of the drippings in saucepan (or reserving 1 Tbsp.
  3. of the drippings for trial recipe).
  4. Add onions and garlic to reserved drippings; saute 2 min.
  5. Add brown sugar, vinegar and pepper; stir.
  6. Reduce heat to low; simmer 2 min., stirring occasionally.
  7. Add remaining ingredients.
  8. Bring to boil on medium-high heat.
  9. Reduce heat to medium-low; simmer 20 to 25 min.
  10. or until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally.
  11. Remove and discard bay leaves.
  12. Cool sauce completely before storing in refrigerator until ready to use as desired.
