Mulled Wine
- 2 (1 1/2 liter) bottles red wine, such as pinot noir, zinfandel, malbec, shiraz
- 12 gallon of cranberry pomegranate juice, cranberry raspberry juice, etc. (organic if possible)
- 1 orange, sliced
- spices, clove and cinnamon for sure, but nutmeg, ginger, allspice, cake spice or pumpkin pie spice, can also be added
- 2 -3 cinnamon sticks
- Combine spices in a coffee filter and secure with butcher's string or a hair tie.
- In a large stock pot, combine wine, juice, orange slices, spice bundle, and cinnamon sticks.
- Heat on medium high until it just begins to bubble.
- Turn off heat and serve hot.
- To keep warm, put it in a crockpot on the lowest setting, or even better, in a keg cooler that has a tap (like those yellow Igloo ones) for hanging out by a fire on a chilly autumn night.
