Basic Red Sauce Recipe
- 1/4 lb grnd beef, (1/4 to 1/2)
- 1/2 med onion, minced
- 4 x cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 can tomato paste
- 1 can minced tomatoes, -or possibly-
- 1 c. fresh tomatoes, diced
- 1 x 4 ounce. can tomato sauce
- 1/2 c. red wine, or possibly white wine
- 1/2 c. water
- 1 Tbsp. dry oregano, * see note
- 1 Tbsp. dry rosemary, * see note
- 1 Tbsp. dry basil, * see note coarsely grnd pepper, to taste
- * Or possibly 2 Tbsp.
- of fresh herb, minced
- Brown grnd beef with onions and 2 of the garlic cloves and drain.
- Add in remaining ingredients and simmer for at least 1 hour.
- You can add in more spices or possibly fresh garlic as you go to suit your taste.
- This is an easy stand-by at my house.
- I use wine if I have it in the house but it's good without it too.
