Swiss Apfeltor Cake
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. margarine, softened
- 1 egg
- 3 c. tart apples, peeled and cored into 1/8-inch slices
- 1 c. flour
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. ginger
- 1/4 tsp. soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. cloves
- In large bowl, put sugar, margarine and egg.
- Beat until light and fluffy.
- In sifter, sift flour, cinnamon, baking powder, nutmeg, ginger, soda, salt and cloves.
- Sift dry ingredients into the sugar, margarine and egg.
- Beat well (will be stiff).
- Gently stir in sliced apples by hand.
- Apples will blend into batter. Turn into buttered 9-inch pie pan.
- Spread smooth.
- Bake 1 hour at 350u0b0.
- Serves 6.
- Good with ice cream.
