Apple Braid Recipe
- 1 pkt crescent dinner rolls
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 2 med apples
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp cloves
- 2 tsp butter or possibly margarine melted
- 1/4 c. powdered sugar
- 1 Tbsp. lowfat milk
- Preheat oven to 375 .
- Unroll crescent roll dough and place in bottom of 9 x 13 baker.
- Lightly sprinkle with flour.
- Roll dough till perforations are sealed and dough is flat.
- Peel, core, and slice apples.
- Cut in quarters.
- Combine sugar and spices.
- Add in apples and toss lightly.
- Place apple mix down center of dough, approximately 2" wide.
- Cut 10 slits, about 3/4" wide on each long side of dough surrounding apple mix.
- To braid, fold strips of dough at an angle across apple mix alternating dough strips from one side to the other.
- Fold ends over to seal.
- Heat butter just till it liquefies; don't boil.
- Brush with melted butter.
- Bake 30 min.
- Cut and serve hot.
- To make glaze: combine powdered sugar and lowfat milk.
- Stir till smooth.
- Pour over hot bread.
