Haitian French Bread Recipe
- 1 loaf French or possibly Italian bread
- 1/4 pound butter
- 2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 med. onion (minced fine)
- 2 tbsp. poppy seeds
- 2 tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 c. Monterey Jack cheese (cubed)
- Combine last five ingredients in saucepan and simmer till onions are soft.
- (Monterey Jack cheese can be omitted.
- Don't put in saucepan with butter.)
- Slice bread into one inch thick slices.
- Spoon butter mix onto each slice and add in cheese if you like.
- Wrap in foil and leave top exposed.
- Can be done early in the day, if you chill.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 20 min.
