Chocolate Covered Cherries

  1. Line

  4. with
  5. waxed
  6. paper.
  7. In small bowl, cream butter, 10x sugar, milk and almond extract.
  8. (If mixture is
  9. too soft,
  10. add more sugar.) On a surface lightly sprinkled with 10x sugar, knead mixture into a ball.
  11. Using 1 teaspoon of mixture, shape
  12. into a ball.
  13. Indent with thumb.
  14. Place cherry in indention
  15. and
  16. cover
  17. cherry
  18. with
  19. mixture.
  20. (Leave
  21. stem exposed.) Place on baking sheet.
  22. Cover loosely and refrigerate 4 hours or overnight.
  23. Place the chocolate and shortening in a 2 cup glass measuring cup.
  24. Microwave on Medium 3 to 5 minutes, stirring once a minute until smooth.
  25. Holding cherry stem, dip into chocolate,tover cherry completely and 1/8 inch up stem. Shake off
  26. excess.
  27. Place
  28. on
  29. waxed paper lined tray.
  30. Repeat using all
  31. the
  32. cherries.
  33. Refrigerate
  34. 15
  35. minutes
  36. to
  37. set. Refrigerate,
  38. covered
  39. if
  40. not
  41. serving
  42. soon.
  43. Makes
  44. 3
  45. dozen candies.
