Ash E Jow (Barley Soup) Iran Recipe

  1. *NOTE: Original recipe used 1 tsp turmeric

  3. Put everything into a pot and then bring to a gentle boil.

  5. Simmer for 1 1/4 hrs, stirring occasionally.

  7. Serve with bread and salad.
  8. Makes 8 c..
  9. ** Variations**
  10. Fry the onions, in the oil, before putting them in the pot.
  11. Add in 1 c. of cooked chick peas or possibly red kidney beans, a few min before serving.
  12. NOTES : This was very, very good...quick to combine.
