Texas Beef Skillet
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 3/4 c. chopped onion
- 1 1/2 tsp. chili powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
- 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes, cut up
- 1 (15 1/2 oz.) can red kidney beans
- 3/4 c. quick-cooking rice
- 3/4 c. water
- 3 Tbsp. chopped green pepper
- 3/4 c. shredded sharp American cheese (3 oz.)
- 1 clove garlic, mashed
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. chopped onions
- 2 Tbsp. cooking oil
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 Tbsp. flour
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 2 Tbsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. oregano
- 15 oz. can kidney beans, drained
- 6 oz. can tomato paste
- 8 oz. can tomato sauce
- 1 c. water
- Combine garlic with salt.
- Saute onion in oil for 5 minutes. Add garlic, salt and ground beef.
- Cook 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Add remaining ingredients.
- Simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally, 1 hour.
- Serves 4.
