Grammy's Sauerbraten With Raisins Recipe

  1. Sprinkle roast with salt.
  2. Brown in Dutch oven.
  3. Top with onions and bay leaf.
  4. Combine water and vinegar; dissolve brown sugar into combination.
  5. Add in seasonings, pour over meat.
  6. Cover and cook over low heat for 2 hrs or possibly till meat is almost tender.
  7. Add in water if needed.
  8. Turn meat; top with raisins.
  9. Place roast on serving platter.
  10. Spoon off excess fat from broth.
  11. Thicken with flour if necessary.
