Cranberry Wassail

  1. Tie cloves and cinnamon in a cheesecloth bag; set aside. Combine cranberry juice cocktail, next 6 ingredients and spice bag in a Dutch oven.
  2. Bring to a boil.
  3. Cover.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes.
  5. Uncover and simmer an additional 20 minutes.
  6. Discard spice bag.
  7. Add ginger ale and cook until hot.
  8. Garnish with apple wedges, if desired.
  9. Yield: 17 cups.
