Cornmeal Mush with Molasses and Ginger

  1. Mix 1 1/2 cups water, cornmeal and salt in heavy medium saucepan.
  2. Cook over medium-low heat until mixture thickens, stirring frequently, about 8 minutes.
  3. Mix in ginger.
  4. Gradually add milk and stir until mixture comes to boil.
  5. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook until cereal is thick and smooth, stirring frequently, about 8 minutes.
  6. Remove saucepan from heat.
  7. Stir in molasses and brown sugar.
  8. Cover saucepan and let stand 15 minutes.
  9. Spoon cereal into bowls and serve
