Southern Fried Chicken

  1. In a shallow bowl, beat eggs and milk.
  2. In another bowl, combine flour and seasonings.
  3. Dip chicken pieces in egg mixture, then in flour mixture.
  4. Heat oil in a large skillet; brown chicken on both sides.
  5. Cover and cook over low heat for 45-50 minutes or until juices run clear.
  6. Remove chicken from skillet; keep warm.
  7. Drain drippings, reserving 1/4 cup in skillet.
  8. Stir in the flour, salt and pepper.
  9. Cook and stir over medium heat for 5 minutes or until browned.
  10. Combine milk and water; add to skillet.
  11. Bring to a boil; boil and stir for 2 minutes.
  12. Add browning sauce if desired.
  13. Serve with chicken.
