Phil'S Beef Stew
- 1 1/2 lb. stewing beef
- 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- garlic powder
- Worcestershire sauce
- 1 c. water
- 1 can pasta style stewed tomatoes
- 1 green pepper, cut in medium size pieces
- 4 potatoes, peeled and quartered
- 5 carrots, scraped and cut into 1-inch pieces
- 2 large onions, quartered
- 1/2 medium rutabaga, cut into chunks
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- Brown beef in oil; sprinkle with garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce.
- Pour off excess grease.
- Add tomatoes and one cup of water; add additional Worcestershire sauce if desired. Let simmer for about 45 minutes.
- Put in carrots and rutabaga and cook for 20 minutes and add onions.
- About 10 minutes later, add potatoes.
- Cook until vegetables are done.
- Stir in mushroom soup and blend well.
