Merry Cherry Bars(Christmas Cookies)

  1. Beat together margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Blend in egg and almond extract.
  2. Combine flour and salt and mix well.
  3. Stir in 1/2 cup candied cherries.
  4. Spread dough into a 15 1/2 x 10 1/2-inch jelly roll pan.
  5. Sprinkle with remaining cherries and M&M's; press in lightly.
  6. Bake at 300u0b0 for 30 to 35 minutes or until edges are light brown.
  7. Cool thoroughly.
  8. Combine powdered sugar and water.
  9. Mix until smooth.
  10. Drizzle over top. Cut into bars.
