Curried Steaks With Black-Eyed Peas Salsa

  1. Prepare the salsa.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add oil, chili powder and green pepper.
  4. Saute for 1 minute, lower heat to medium and stir in water and black-eyed peas.
  5. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in diced tomatoes, mixing well.
  7. Transfer to bowl and sprinkle green onions over top.
  8. Set aside to cool.
  9. Prepare steaks.
  10. In a small bowl, whisk together oil, pepper, curry powder and lime juice.
  11. Brush steaks on both sides with marinade and allow them to rest for 15 minutes, turning once.
  12. Salt steaks on both sides and grill or broil for about 3 minutes on one side.
  13. Turn and grill for an additional 2 minutes on the second side for medium rare.
  14. Transfer to plates and spoon black-eyed pea salsa over them.
