Mom's Cranberries
- 1 12 cups sugar
- 34 cup water
- 3 whole cloves
- 3 whole allspice
- 2 (3 inch) cinnamon sticks
- 1 (12 ounce) bag fresh cranberries
- zest 1 orange
- Combine sugar, water, cloves, allspice and cinnamon sticks in a 4-quart saucepan.
- Bring to boil.
- Cook, stirring, until syrup is clear, about 3 minutes.
- Add cranberries and cook just until they begin to pop, about 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat, add orange zest and cool.
- Make at least 24 hours before serving.
