Barbecued Sage Spareribs

  1. Place ribs in oven; cover with water.
  2. Add all ingredients except hot pepper and barbecue sauce.
  3. Bring to a boil and reduce heat.
  4. Cover and simmer about 1 1/2 hours.
  5. Cool and rinse ribs. Pour hot pepper sauce and barbecue sauce in a large resealable bag; add ribs.
  6. Refrigerate overnight.
  7. Warm ribs to room temperature; drain and reserve marinade.
  8. Grill ribs, uncovered, over medium heat, turning several times until browned.
  9. In saucepan, bring marinade to a boil; stir constantly.
  10. Brush over ribs.
