Rainy Day Pan Fried Steak
- 2 rib eye steaks or 1 large top sirloin
- 3 to 4 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 to 2 tsp. Worcestershire
- 6 to 8 Tbsp. butter*
- 1 c. red wine (Merlot)
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 8 to 12 oz. sliced, fresh mushrooms
- 2 to 4 Tbsp. Balsamic vinegar
- salt, pepper and garlic powder to taste
- In a large black cast-iron skillet heat olive oil very hot. Place steaks in skillet and sear on each side 1 to 3 minutes. Add mushrooms and onions, simmer for 5 minutes. Add wine and vinegar and heat another 3 to 5 minutes, then add butter, melt completely and cook an additional 5 to 10 minutes. Add seasonings and Worcestershire sauce, reduce heat to medium-low, cover and simmer for 30 to 45 minutes until sauce thickens. Serve steaks with sauce on top. This is a perfect recipe for cooking steak indoors on a rainy day.
