Dutch Meat Balls Recipe
- 1 pound each lean round steak, pork & veal, grnd together
- 6 slices Holland Rusk
- 3 teaspoon salt
- 3 teaspoon nutmeg
- 3 Large eggs
- 1/3 c. half & half
- Crush Holland Rusk into crumbs.
- Add in salt and nutmeg.
- Mix into grnd meat.
- Add in Large eggs and half & half.
- Mix thoroughly with hands.
- Shape into balls.
- Heat 1 Tbsp.
- Crisco and 1/2 stick butter in large frying pan.
- Fry meatballs till brown on all sides.
- Transfer to Dutch oven or possibly roast pan with the shortening and butter.
- Simmer over very low flame for about 45 min.
