Holiday Peppermint Candies Recipe
- 4 ounce. Philadelphia brand cream cheese, softened
- 1 tbsp. butter
- 1 tbsp. light corn syrup
- 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract or possibly few drops peppermint oil
- 4 c. powdered sugar
- Green & red food coloring
- Sifted powdered sugar
- Beat cream cheese, butter, corn syrup and extract in large mixing bowl at medium speed with electric mixer till well blended.
- Gradually add in 4 c. powdered sugar; mix well.
- Divide mix into thirds.
- Knead few drops green food coloring into one third; repeat with red food coloring and second third.
- Leave one third uncolored.
- Wrap each third in plastic wrap.
- Working with one color mix at a time, shape into 3/4" balls.
- Place on wax paper lined cookie sheet.
- Flatten each ball with bottom of glass which has been lightly dipped in sugar.
- Repeat with remaining mixtures.
- Decorate with icing, if you like.
- Chill.
- Makes 5 dozen.
