Chocolate Bread Pudding

  1. Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
  2. Bring half and half and whipping cream to just simmering basis in a heavy medium saucepan.
  3. Remove immediately from heat.
  4. Place chocolate chips in a large bowl. Pour cream mixture over, stirring until all chocolate melts.
  5. Add 1/2 cup sugar, egg, liqueur and vanilla. Whisk until blended.
  6. Add bread cubes. Toss to mix well. Transfer to an 8-inch square glass baking dish.
  7. Let stand for 15 minutes. Bake until bread pudding is set and top puffs, about 30 minutes. Transfer to rack and cool slightly.
  8. Pudding will appear to fall.
  9. Sift powdered sugar over bread pudding. Serve warm with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream.
  10. This can also be served with a custard sauce or fruit mixture, even a splash of Triple Sec.
  11. Makes 4 servings.
