Onion Rings
- 3 md. onions
- 1-1/3 cup flour
- 2 tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp. parsley flakes
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 dash pepper
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tbsp. salad oil
- 2 eggs, separated
- 1-1/4 cup stale beer (let stand 1 hour)
- Peel and slice onions about 3/8- to 1/2-inch thick.
- Separate into rings and set aside.
- Beat together flour, Parmesan cheese, parsley flakes, salt, pepper, garlic powder, salad oil, and beer.
- Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into beer batter.
- Dip onion rings in batter.
- Fry in hot oil until golden (about five minutes).
- Drain on paper towels.
- Sprinkle with salt.
