Shepherd'S Or Cottage Pie
- 1 1/2 lb. ground meat
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 c. mushrooms, sliced
- 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen mixed vegetables (peas and carrots, etc.)
- 1 tsp. Italian seasonings
- 1/4 c. parsley, minced
- 2 - 3 c. chicken broth
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- salt and pepper, to taste
- For pie, gently saute ground meat in heavy skillet, breaking into small pieces.
- Cook until lightly browned.
- Drain.
- Add onion and saute until soft, but not browned.
- Add mushrooms and saute until heated through.
- Add mixed vegetables, Italian seasoning, parsley and sugar.
- Stir gently.
- Add broth.
- Simmer until vegetables are done.
- In small bowl, blend flour and butter. Gradually add to ground meat mixture, stirring gently.
- Cook until slightly thickened.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Transfer to baking dish.
