Scented Pinecones
- old candles or paraffin
- metal saucepan
- pinecones (small work best)
- paper cupcake liners
- cupcake tins
- string or twine to act as a wick
- The amount of paraffin or wax needed depends on the number of scented pinecones you make.
- Start with just a few to see how much wax is needed.
- Melt paraffin.
- (Set a small coffee can inside a large pot to use double boiler style.)
- Put 2 to 3 in water in larger pot.
- Heat pan until water boils and wax melts.
- Add food coloring after it's melted.
- Place cupcake liners in the tins; put a 4-inch piece of string in each liner.
- Fit the pinecones into the cupcake liner.
- If the cones are fresh, you will smell the scent from the cones when lit.
- If cones are older, add a drop of clove oil or desired scent of your choice to melted paraffin.
- Carefully pour melted wax over pinecones into paper liners.
- Don't take off liners until the wax cools, at least 2 to 3 hours.
