Mrs. Maggie'S Fruit Cake

  1. Mix nuts, raisins, fruit, spice and flour.
  2. In another bowl, mix eggs, margarine and molasses.
  3. Combine well the first 2 mixes. Grease a round (8-inch) deep pan.
  4. Line bottom and sides of pan with wax paper and let paper hang over edges of pan.
  5. Spray with Pam spray.
  6. Pour mix into pan.
  7. Trim top of cake with cherries and pecan halves.
  8. Completely cover top of cake pan with wax paper and tie down with string.
  9. Place on rack in large canner.
  10. Fill canner with hot water to reach 1/2 way up pan.
  11. Start to boil and turn down.
  12. Replace water to keep halfway in pan.
  13. Cook 2 1/2 hours. Remove and place in oven at 300u0b0 until paper is dry.
  14. Cool overnight.
