Brownie Almond Torte
- 4 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate
- 1 1/4 c. sifted plain flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. margarine
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. chopped almonds
- 2 large cartons Cool Whip
- 9 to 10 (9-inch) waxed paper circles
- Up to one week before serving, preheat oven to 350u0b0.
- In double boiler over hot water, melt chocolate.
- Sift flour with baking powder and salt.
- Cream margarine with sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time.
- At low speed, beat in chocolate, vanilla, flour mixture and almonds.
- Grease cookie sheet.
- Place 1 or 2 waxed paper circles on it.
- Grease circles.
- Spread 1/2 cup batter on paper making it even and round.
- Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Cool 5 minutes.
- Remove.
- Cool.
- Remove paper.
- Continue baking layers.
